burger of the month club

burger of the month club

The members of the Burger of the Month Club (BOTM) have an important mission: to find the best burgers in New York City. And according to the New York Times, every Monday for the last four years they have sampled a burger in a different restaurant. For a burger lover, it really doesn't get much better than that.

When the Burger of the Month club members finish chowing down a burger at a new restaurant they rank it on their website, burgerrankings.com.

Jed Weiss, one of the members of the Burger of the Month club, considers burgers to be something of an art form.

"Vegetables are to be eaten by rabbits and liberals," wrote Mr. Weiss on his Burger of the Month Club application, "and the only form they should take is the fourth ingredient in a condiment."

Well, I wouldn't got that far. This writer happens to love both burgers and vegetables. That way, you see, I get to enjoy the best of both worlds. Plus, I consider myself to be a centrist, not a liberal. But I digress.

This is not to say that I don't have qualms about being a meat eater. It's always troubled me, for instance, that pigs are so damn tasty. They're smarter than dogs, for heaven's sake. But, once again, I digress, for this article is about burgers and the Burger of the Month Club.

Speaking of which, if you're looking for a great burger in Los Angeles (my beloved home town) try the following places:

Jan's Restaurant serves up some fine burgers. Jan's is nothing special in terms of décor and atmosphere, but what they lack in ambiance they make up for in excellent food - especially burgers.

Hamburger Habit is another establishment where you can enjoy a great burger. In fact, local radio station KABC proclaims that Hamburger Habit serves "the best hamburger in Southern California. That's quite an endorsement. By the way, their shakes and fries are nothing to scoff at either.

Carney's offers outstanding burgers (and dogs, too). What's also very special about Carney's is that it is housed in a vintage train car - yes, dear reader, a real train car that sits right on the world-famous Sunset Blvd. It is a sight to behold.
