american idol may 5
Rock 'n' roll, tonight's theme, is here to stay. One of the four remaining finalists isn't. After Adam Lambert wound up in the bottom two last week, there are no more sure things, although Adam still has to be regarded as the strong favorite to win the title two weeks from now.
(Shameless plug: The Sun-Sentinel is staging an American Idol watch party at Gatsby's in Davie on May 20 from 7-11 p.m. I'll be there and I'd like to meet and greet many of you.)
Ryan Seacrest opens the night with an announcement that one of the towers on stage collapsed, so the young singers didn't have their traditional preparations.
Then comes the really bad news. The contestants are going to be paired for duets. The bad ideas this season are never-ending.
If anyone can think of any reason why this is a good idea, jump right in with your comments.
So what happened to the duets? Apparently they are being saved for later.
Adam opens the show (how's that for a comedown?) with Whole Lot of Love. No fancy entrances this week. He gets right down to business and he's brilliant again.
