susan day

susan day

On a warm Sunday in front of a Mother's Day sellout of 43,646, the Angels showed their support for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure movement by swinging pink bats and wearing pink arm bands.

In one of the season's most spectacular plays, center fielder Torii Hunter soared above the wall in left-center to take a home run away from Royals catcher Miguel Olivo in the ninth inning and preserve a 4-3 victory.

"My pink arm band is going to be on all the replays, right?" Hunter said, grinning. "That means a lot. It's a great cause, and to do something like that on Mother's Day, it's special."

Most of the pink bats eventually went back in the rack, players reverting to their more familiar bats, but the arm bands remained throughout the day.
