Sterling (May 30, 2009) - Park View High School celebrated the NCAA Division I signing of senior Karita Brown on Thursday.
Brown, the school's all-time shot blocker, will play for the Manhattan Jaspers of Riverdale, N.Y.

A. Land with 116 career blocks. Karita broke the record with 120 in 3 years. She also tied the record for Most Blocks in a Game (7) at least 4 times this year. Karita has set a new record for Most Blocks in a Season, a total of 81. One of her personal goals this season was Blocks, Blocks, and more Blocks! Great work Karita, "you made that happen."

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Karita Brown (Sterling, Va.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Manhattan College women’s basketball program for the 2009-10 season, Head Coach John Olenowski announced today. Brown, who received the final scholarship the Lady Jaspers had available, completes Manhattan’s four-member recruiting class.
A 5-foot-11 forward/center, Brown was a four-year letterwinner at Park View High School and is the Patriots’ all-time leader in career blocks. She earned the team’s Defensive Player of the Year award in 2007-08 and was named Rookie of the Year following her freshman campaign. Brown was also selected to the honor roll.
“We are delighted to have Karita join our Jasper family,” Olenowski said. “She plays hard and can score inside & outside. She is also a tremendous rebounder and shot blocker.”
Brown joins Maggie Blair (Briarcliff, N.Y.), Toni-Ann Lawrence (Elmont, N.Y.) and Ondya Morgan (New Brunswick, N.J.) in Manhattan’s Class of 2013.
